Why the Workhouse

Do you want a website that…

Most small-business sites are slow, rented and forgotten. Ours are built to be the opposite.

…loads before they lose patience?

No frameworks, no page builders. Every site is hand-built to load in under a second on a phone on a job site.

…you actually own?

Domain in your name, files handed over, no subscription holding your business hostage. Leave any time with everything.

…respects your customers' privacy?

No trackers or third-party scripts, so no cookie banner and nothing slowing the page down.

…comes with a fixed price?

Three tiers, published up front. You know the number before we start, and what moves it.

…is explained in plain English?

You deal directly with Andrew, who directs your build. No account managers, no jargon, no disappearing acts.

…gets local support?

Sydney-based, Australian-hosted, and a real phone number that gets answered.

Andrew Walshe-Cutter, Director, The Website Workhouse

Who you'll work with

One contact. A team of professional creatives behind him.

Andrew Walshe-Cutter directs every Website Workhouse project. He is your single point of contact from the first call to launch: he scopes the work, sets the fixed price, and oversees the designer, copywriter and developer assigned to your site so nothing is lost between them.

Andrew brings a professional project management background across government, financial services and industry, together with hands-on experience running a business where the phone is the sales team. He leads a small team of professional creatives who each do one thing well, and he keeps the whole job in plain English: a short, defined engagement, one person accountable, and a site that does its job.

How much does a website cost?

Websites start at $1,000. The $1,000 site is a single home page: a hero, three sections and a footer, in a two-colour palette with one accent colour, supplied with one image and our standard icon set, with SEO set up for your local area and one review before hand-over. Branding is quoted separately. Larger sites are priced by the number of pages, the functionality you need and how much content we write, and you get a fixed quote before anything starts.

How long does it take?

Most sites are live in three to four weeks. The biggest variable is how quickly you can review and send us photos.

Do I own the website?

Yes — the domain is registered in your name and you receive every file. There is no subscription you need to keep paying to keep your site.

What does "no bloat" actually mean?

No page builders, no plugins to update, no third-party scripts. Your site is a small set of hand-built files, which is why it loads in under a second and almost never breaks.

What will my website look like?

Much like this one. We build clear, uncluttered pages: plenty of white space, one idea per section, a calm palette of two colours and one accent, and type that is easy to read on a phone in bright sun. No stock-photo banners, no pop-ups, no animations for their own sake. Every element has a job, usually getting a visitor to call or enquire. If you want something busier, we are probably not the right fit, and we will say so on the first call.

Do you do Google Ads and social media?

Yes. Both are monthly services with a published starting price and no lock-in. Most clients start them once the site is live, so there's somewhere worth sending people.

I've been burnt by an agency before. Why is this different?

You deal with one person from quote to launch, prices are published, the payment is staged (50% to start, 30% at first review, 20% at launch) and you can walk away with your files at any point.

Can you guarantee page one on Google?

No — and anyone who does is guessing. We build the foundations properly and report what's changing each month in plain English. Local results typically show in three to six months.

Ready to put your website to work?

A 20-minute call, a fixed quote within two days, and a site that's live within the month.
